Why We Started Ladies Who Life

Why We Started Ladies Who Life

We need to be honest with you: we have no idea what we're doing.

Okay, that's not entirely true. We know some things. We know how to show up for ourselves most days. We know that champagne tastes better with good company. We know that trash TV is underrated self-care. And we know that the self-help space needed something different—something real.

That's why we started Ladies Who Life.

The Problem with "Positivity"

If you've spent any time in the self-improvement world, you've probably noticed a pattern. Everything is about crushing your goals, manifesting your dream life, and maintaining an unshakeable positive mindset 24/7. If you're not waking up at 5 AM to journal, meditate, work out, and build your empire before breakfast, are you even trying?

Spoiler alert: that's exhausting. And honestly? It's not real.

We were tired of the toxic positivity. Tired of the "girl boss" culture that made us feel like we were failing if we weren't constantly hustling. Tired of so-called experts who seemed to have it all figured out, selling us the idea that we should too.

Here's the truth: we don't have it all figured out. We're not experts. We're just two friends who are figuring it out as we go—and we wanted to create a space for people who feel the same way.

People in Progress

Elly works in cloud tech, loves her child-free life, and is thriving in her own unique way. Jaclyn is a small business owner, a mom, a wife (to a husband who's legally blind, which adds its own daily adventures), and someone who's learned that "having it together" looks different every single day.

We're different people with different lives, but we share something important: we're both committed to living authentically and improving ourselves without the pressure to be perfect.

That's what Ladies Who Life is all about. We're not here to tell you we've cracked the code. We're here to walk alongside you, share what's working (and what's not), and build a community of people who are okay with being works in progress.

It's Okay Not to Know

One of the most freeing realizations we've had? It's okay to have no idea where your life is going.

Society puts so much pressure on us to have a plan. A five-year plan. A ten-year plan. A vision board that maps out every detail of our future selves. But what happens when life doesn't go according to plan? What happens when you get there and realize it's not what you wanted after all?

We've been there. And we want you to know: you're not failing if you don't have all the answers. You're not behind if your path looks different than you expected. You're human.

Goals Can Change (And That's More Than Okay)

Here's something else we've learned: what we wanted at 24 isn't what we want now. And that's not just okay—it's growth.

Maybe you thought you wanted the corner office, but now you'd rather have flexibility. Maybe you thought you wanted to live in the city, but now you're craving space and quiet. Maybe you thought you wanted kids, or didn't want kids, or wanted a specific career, or a specific relationship—and now you want something completely different.

That doesn't mean you were wrong before. It means you're evolving. Your goals are allowed to change as you change. In fact, they should.

At Ladies Who Life, we're not interested in holding you to some arbitrary standard you set for yourself years ago. We're interested in helping you check in with yourself now, figure out what you actually want today, and take steps toward that—whatever it looks like.

What We're Building Here

Ladies Who Life is for women who want to live authentically. Who are tired of toxic positivity and performative hustle culture. Who want to set goals and work toward them, but also want permission to rest, pivot, and be honest about the messy middle.

We're building a community where you can show up as you are—ambitious and tired, motivated and uncertain, goal-oriented and still figuring it out. Because that's real life. And real life is what we're here for.

We're so glad you're here with us. We're figuring this out together, one honest conversation (and maybe one glass of champagne) at a time.

– Elly & Jaclyn
